Here we go again, the same old drawn out cheer or is it? How many of us can actually say that from the bottom of our heart after major calamity? Or how many really believe in that statement ? Is it important to truly believe in that statement and can we back up that statement in 21th century in a coherent, well articulated reasoning ?
The above statement has different meaning and practical application for Muslims, Buddhists, Atheist, Evolutionist or Agnostic.
Is it important to be able to articulate coherently, cogently so that we can provide 'a reason for the hope that we have within us?'
I submit to you that as Christians is it VITAL that we must be able to do just that !
I also submit to you that as Christians we need to practice what I call 'Tai Chi Apologetics.' This idea actually come from my good friend Allen Jang.
In our 21th century culture, people desire IRENIC, geninue relationship. Christianity is seen by Postmodernist as losers, backward, ANTI-you name it Christian is. There are growing hostility towards Christians currently in US and persecutions in other parts of the world. How can we turn this around?
The KEY : Love the Lord with all your mind, might, strength and heart.
Here we have the cornerstone for our living. This is the 'fire' inside our Soul that no man or beast/Satan can put it out.
As always your input is greatly appreciated.
Blessings
Eric

I agree with you Eric, we have many tools given to us by God but unless we know how to use them well and effectively there is no way for us to make ourselves heard in today's world. Now more than ever we need to stand firm on the cornerstone that is Christ. We must love him with all we have and put our trust, faith and hopes within him.
Thank you Chen for the response. Could I request that you elaborate on 'the many tools given to us by God' and 'how to use them well and effectively' in the context 'God is Good and God is Great.'
Eric
With close to 50 million Americans out of work today, God is Good, God is Great may seem like a distant reality to many. In the midst of layoffs, mortgage foreclosures, and personal financial misfortune, God's Love
and Greatness & intellectual discourse on God's nature may seem non-relevant to many Non-Christians. One of several
ways Non-Christians may be able to experience God's Love is by personal contact with mature Christians.
Loving acts such as volunteering as the local homeless shelter, supporting community events, or visiting as shut-in speak much louder than words. Loving acts & positive relationships between Christians will motivate
Non-Christians to want to learn more about God's Goodness & Greatness.
How will Non-Christians know we are Christians? By observing in us the "Fruits of the Spirit": Galatians 5:22:"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and
self-control." Positive contact with mature Christians with these characteristics will cut through any negative stereotypes (losers, backward) that Non-Christians have about Christianity. Comments anyone?
Ana, thank you for those thoughtful comments. Yes, I cannot agree more. I try to live my life around these two principles: 1) Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind
2) Love your neighbor as yourself Deut 6:5 ; Lk 10: 27
Key here :
Love God with : heart---emotion; mind---intellectual.
This very blog site revolve around these issues.
Blessings
Eric
