For last night's Thanksgiving House Worship, we had 19 in attendance: Peony W, Paul, Ivan T, Karen C, James C, Mai H, Mai V, Raymond & Andrea N, Larry T, Daniel/Sue-Ann/James T, Qi/Su/Jeremy, Chen, Allen/Loan.
We enjoyed one another's company and Sister Loan's cooking (turkey and the works)!
The lesson centered around Thanksgiving and how the Roman statesman Titus Flavius Clemens allowed his house to be used for secret Christian worship at a time when the Christians were persecuted. His faith in Christ eventually cost him his life. We examined photographs and floor-plan outlays for 2 houses used for early House Worships (1 uncovered through archaeological digs) and could see that early Christian worship was primarily small and intimate. We ought to be thankful that we can worship today because of those who have gone on before us, often sacrificing their very lives so we may be able to hear the Gospel message that salvation and eternal life has come through the works of Jesus Christ!

November/December Updates
Wed., 11/14, Azusa-Pacific University hosted their monthly scholarly lectures by having an M.D. (MIT & Harvard trained) psychiatrist who is finishing another doctorate from Yale in Physics! His topic was based upon his highly touted book, "Homosexuality and the Politics of Truth". Learn about spiritual deceptions.
Thurs., 11/15, Allen resumed mid-week Bible study at his house with a study of "The 7 Churches of Asia in the Bookof Revelation". Each of these "churches" model a different level of spiritual maturity. Which one are you? What can we learn about growing in truth & spirit?
Sat., 11/17, The Thanksgiving House Worship (Bible Study, Communion & Dinner) was held at the Jang's house on Sat. (Qi/Su & Sue-Anne had prior engagements on Sunday.) The sermon emphasized the Spirit of Thanksgiving in the early church and tied in what Dr. John Wilson (retired Prof. of Archaeology, Pepperdine Univ.) said about the early church with charts!
Sat., 12/22, Eric & Angie and their family came down to see the Dead Sea Scrolls in San Diego and stopped by The Shroud Center Museum while enroute returning from San Diego.
Sat., 12/29, Allen's Dec. Docent assignment at The Shroud Center Museum. There you will find many things to challenge you to think!
